This past week we returned from a Christian family camp in Penn. We meet my husband's family there every summer....this was our 18th year! It's not luxurious, but it's beautiful on the Delaware River in the foothills of the Pocono Mountains. The wonderful thing about it for us moms is all the food is cooked for you, there is no cleaning either, no laundry to do unless you want to and no TV, computer and no driving in the car unless you choose or have to. Below are some of my favorite pics from the week that show all the special times we had.
MK's first time on the ski-boat with her Dad on the Delaware watching the other kids boat tube.
Ben competing in the men's canoe race with his cousin. They came in 5th out of about 6 teams : )
Luke with his cousin Mikal at the diving pool.
Me, Patrick and my wonderful sister-in-law....who is quite a nut : )
Aunt Robbin teaching Caroline how to sew at the quilting elective.
Above and below is what we call the "target shooting elective." Actually, my husband and his brother-in-law just take a bunch of guys out to target shoot on a friend's property every year. It's one of the high-lights for my sons.
Anna and MK with the kitten that was given to us.....yes, we have a new member of the family!
Walking to the dining hall for dinner. My son calls this camp the opposite of "Fat Camp" cause you go here to gain weight! The food is great and there are 3 large meals provided everyday and 2 pretty large snacks : )
Patrick was quite the hit and is at such a good age for smiling and cooing at just about anyone.....no stranger anxiety yet.
The last night the kids sing songs on stage that they have learned all week at their program. Caroline this year was completely over her shyness!
Uncle Bruce was Matthew's favorite.....they were inseparable. This was the morning we were leaving and Matt didn't want to let him go : (
A week away with family.....looks like great fun!
ReplyDeletethose are some great pics~looks like everyone had a great time!
ReplyDeleteHI there... A new "follower," and enjoying your posts. I am so curious where this camp in PA is?
ReplyDeletewe live in NY and have been recently looking for a camp for our larger family.
Your family is beautiful!

I too would like to know where you can go and not have to cook or clean up.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea! Sounds like a place where you have made a lot of memories together!
ReplyDeleteFamily Camp is the best! We enjoyed a week of it at our Church's camp in MI over the 4th of July week. Great time to relax and grow as a family and WONDERFUL for momma not to have to cook or clean up! SO glad your family enjoys the blessing of family camp too!
ReplyDeleteOur family just got back from a Rodeo Bible Camp! We had a wonderful time too and yes, as a mom, I LOVED not having to cook, do laundry or clean the house. It was a nice break and some wonderful time to focus on growing closer to God. I'm glad you all had such a great time and thank you for sharing your pictures.
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Rashel
Family camp looks like a blast. I wonder if they have that here in California. I will have to look into it. Thanks for the idea. ((smiles))
ReplyDeletewow! what a great blog... and what a BEAUTIFUL family you have!!!
ReplyDeleteI am following now!
(maybe you can return the follow :) )
This camp is on the Delaware River on the border of Penn and NJ, in the foothills of the Pocono's. It's called Tuscarora Inn and Conference Center and is in Mt. Bethel, PA. They are a Lutheran Bretheran Camp that host retreats for churches and such all year. But in the summer they have 2 weeks of family camp that they call Leisure Weeks. They also have a Junior kid week and a Teen week in the summer as well that my kids have participated in. It's very economical for a large family too.
